Advocates to the American Osteopathic Association (AAOA)
The South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners protects the public and fulfill two major functions: (1) licensing physicians (M.D. and D.O.), physician assistants, respiratory care practitioners, registered cardiovascular invasive specialists, acupuncturists, auricular therapists, and auricular detoxification specialists; and (2) investigating and disciplining licensees found to be engaged in misconduct as defined in the professions' respective practice acts. This includes illegal, unethical or incompetent conduct.
The Board office can assist you with examination information and materials, continuing education requirements, licensure applications and renewals, board information, laws and policies, and more.
Effective January 1, 2013, all American Osteopathic Association (AOA) specialty certifying boards implemented a continuous certification process for osteopathic physicians, called “Osteopathic Continuous Certification (OCC).” This “AOA CME Guide for Osteopathic Physicians” is intended to outline the requirements for OCC Component 2: Lifelong Learning/Continuing Medical Education (CME), and the activities that may serve to meet those requirements. These requirements are required of all physicians who hold osteopathic board certification through the AOA and its 18 specialty certifying boards (also known as diplomates).
The DO CME Education Center is a premier source of on-demand programs, webinars, and live educational opportunities addressing a broad spectrum of topics covering practice management, healthcare regulation and relevant clinical issues. The Center is a collaboration with osteopathic state societies through the Association of Osteopathic State Executive Directors (AOSED).
